MIAMI TRANSFER GUIDE

Accessible transfers at MIA: questions before booking

Vehicle access must match the traveler’s actual mobility needs.

Describe the mobility equipment

State whether the traveler stays seated in a wheelchair or can transfer to a vehicle seat. Provide equipment dimensions, weight, folding ability and whether a powered chair is involved. A Standard or VIP label alone does not specify accessibility.

Request an equipped vehicle explicitly

Confirm the ramp or lift, securement, passenger space and driver assistance in writing. Do not book an ordinary car and assume it can carry a non-folding chair. If no suitable vehicle is confirmed, do not treat the enquiry as a reservation.

Coordinate assistance at both ends

Airline terminal assistance and road transport are separate arrangements. Confirm the destination has an accessible reception approach and that the driver understands the agreed handover point.

Check the airport resource

MIA publishes accessibility information and ground-transport guidance. Use the official resource for airport assistance and request additional time when an equipped vehicle must be arranged.

Sources & editorial approach

Official operators are linked for current airport services, routes and schedules. Our practical planning advice is editorial guidance; confirm trip-specific instructions with your booked provider.
