MIA transfers with luggage: confirm the right vehicle

Two travelers with several large cases can need a different arrangement from a larger party traveling light. Start with everything that must travel together, rather than choosing a vehicle from its label alone.

Quick answer

Confirm seats and luggage space separately. Our displayed Standard estimates cover up to 3 passengers and premium up to 2, both subject to bags; neither is a promise that a particular load fits. List every case, cabin bag, stroller and bulky item with relevant dimensions, then request written confirmation for the whole party and load. Premium does not automatically mean more luggage space. Larger parties and unusual loads need an individual quote, potentially for a different vehicle or more than one vehicle.

Separate passenger places from luggage space

A passenger limit does not specify a luggage allowance. Count children in the party and describe required restraints separately. A category name, SUV label or vehicle photo does not establish the usable space with everyone seated. Ask which vehicle or binding capacity is being confirmed for your exact load; do not calculate a larger-group price by multiplying a displayed base estimate.

Make an item-by-item inventory

Replace “normal luggage” with counts and sizes. List large cases, cabin bags and smaller bags separately, including items you intend to hold during the journey. Give dimensions in one stated unit, including protruding handles, wheels and protective cases where relevant. Update the list if shopping or a cruise changes the return load.

Cases and awkward shapes

Describe length, width and height for unusually large or rigid items. Add weight where handling makes it relevant. A golf travel case, dive bag or boxed item is not interchangeable with a compact suitcase. Airline baggage acceptance does not confirm space in a road vehicle.

Strollers and folding equipment

State whether a stroller folds, its folded dimensions and whether parts detach. Include those parts in the inventory. Do not assume folding an item makes it fit: it must be assessed together with the bags, occupants and child restraints.

Describe special needs before comparing offers

Child restraints and mobility arrangements must be considered alongside the complete load. A larger vehicle alone does not confirm the correct restraint, assisted boarding or wheelchair transport. Obtain a response addressing the actual requirements rather than accepting a generic “enough space” reply.

    Children and restraints

Give the number of children and the age, height and weight needed to identify suitable restraints. Confirm type, availability, installation arrangements and any charge with the provider. A child seat is not an extra luggage place; plan the occupied seats and bags together.

    Mobility aids and accessible transport

Explain whether the traveler transfers to a vehicle seat or must remain in the wheelchair. Supply relevant equipment dimensions, weight and folding details, and confirm boarding, securement and assistance requirements. Airport wheelchair assistance and accessible ground transport are separate arrangements.

Apply the inventory to the actual journey

Use your real itinerary and exact destination, not a theoretical number of suitcases per vehicle. These examples identify what needs confirmation; none promises a vehicle size, fleet or availability. If splitting the party, agree who travels with each child, essential bag and item of equipment.

    Couples and families

A couple with several rigid cases still needs load confirmation. For a family, add stroller, cabin bags and restraints to the same list. Keep documents, medication and essential child supplies accessible under the agreed arrangement; do not plan to solve a shortage by blocking passenger space or access.

Cruise passengers and Upper Keys trips

For PortMiami, include ship, sailing date and confirmed terminal, and reassess bags for the airport return. For Key Largo or Islamorada, specify the exact address and dimensions of diving, fishing or other sports equipment. Confirm every leg separately if its passengers or load differ.

    Get a complete written confirmation

Ask for the actual provider, the vehicle or agreed capacity for all passengers and listed items, and the total fare. Clarify additional vehicles, loading assistance, child seats, waiting, tolls, airport fees, parking, gratuity and changes. Keep the confirmed inventory with the quote and report additions before travel. If capacity remains unresolved, do not treat the journey as confirmed.
